Joining or Leaving the Bank
- How do I join as a Substantive Employee?
- If you're a substantive employee looking to join, please complete the substantive joiner form. Once submitted, we will create a new assignment number for you and you will receive a welcome email once this process is complete.
- How do I join if I have left my Substantive role but want to stay on the Bank?
- If you're leaving, or have left your substantive role but wish to stay on the Bank, you can access the trust leaver forms here to begin your application. If you have already left the trust, you have a grace period of 6- weeks within which you can still go through the above process. If you are outside of this grace period, you will need to register through our external process by emailing joinbartsbank@bankpartners.co.uk.
- How to join the Bank as an external candidate?
- Please apply to our current vacancies here for all Barts Bank opportunities. if there is no role to meet your skill set, please email your most up-to-date CV to joinbartsbank@bankpartners.co.uk and member of our recruitment team will be in touch.
- How do I join as an Agency Worker?
- If you're working at the trust via an agency and wish to transfer over to the bank, you will need to click here to complete the agency consent form. Once completed, we can issue your agency notice and you can begin to register. Before you are cleared to work, we need to serve a minimum of weeks intention to hire notice to your agency, before you can start working on bank.
Pay Queries
- What is the process if my Tax Code is incorrect?
- If you believe your tax code is incorrect, it's recommended to first contact HMRC for assistance. Should you need further help after contacting HMRC, reach out to the ESR payroll team at Barts Health. You can contact them either by phone at 0207 480 4760 or esrpayrollblt.bartshealth@nhs.net. They can provide additional support and guidance regarding your tax code concerns.
- What should I do if I have been paid incorrectly?
- For issues with incorrect payment, reach out to Bank Partners at 0207 959 3563 or barts.support@bankpartners.co.uk
- What should I do if I have not received my payslip?
- Please call the ESR payroll team on 0207 480 4760 or email esrpayrollblt.bartshealth@nhs.net
- How do I request sick pay as a bank only candidate?
- Please contact Bank Partners on 0207 959 3563 or email barts.support@bankpartners.co.uk
- Who should I contact if I have questions about my Tax/ NI / Student loan deductions?
- Please call the ESR payroll team on 0207 480 4760 or email esrpayrollblt.bartshealth@nhs.net
- How do update my bank account details?
- You can update your bank details via ESR Online
- Who do I contact if I am not able to update my bank account details on ESR?
- You will be able to update your bank details via ESR Online. However, if you are unable to do this please email esr.selfservicesupport@nhs.net and we will be able to help.
Booking or Cancelling Shifts
- How do I book a shift?

To book a shift you can self-book yourself into preferred bank shifts via our EOL service or alternatively contact us via call or email:

- How do I cancel a shift?
- If you need to cancel a shift at Barts Health NHS Staff Bank, please do so with sufficient notice, ideally giving us at least 3 days lead time. To do this you can use our shift cancellation form here and provide us with all of the relevant shift details.
If you do need to cancel a shift within 3 days of the shift start date, please contact our bookings team at:

Please provide as much information as possible, your name, date and time of the shift, BRN of the shift (if you have it), request reason and your line manager/agency name.
- What should I do if my shift has not been finalised?
- Please contact the department where you worked the shift and ask them to finalise the shift for payment. Also ensure that you have left a signed timesheet on the ward (if needed) to certify you are paid in a timely manner. You can also contact the bookings team so we can chase from our side:

- How long does the application process take?
- The application process usually completes within 21 working days. We strive to expedite this process and will keep you regularly updated on its progress. Compliance
- How will I know if one of my compliance documents is due to expire?
- You will be notified via email when any element of your compliance is due for renewal.
For any compliance-related queries, please contact your dedicated compliance team, rather than visiting our office without an appointment, to avoid delays.
Remember that obtaining DBS clearance can take between 1 day and 12 weeks, so patience is required.
Training is mandatory for NHS work; while Bank Partners provides core skills training, role-specific training is your responsibility.
Please note that not working a shift for 6 months or allowing any part of your compliance profile to expire for over 6 months may lead to your profile being closed, requiring re-registration.
